Welcome to the website of girlygirl P.A.R.T.S™ (Pre-Screening Awareness Required To Silence...Ovarian Cancer). Our site is designed to provide you information on our major awareness event, but also to provide information relating to ovarian cancer, as well as information on resources to assist you and information on the 5k Run/Walk for ovarian cancer. Ovarian Cancer is one of the most deadly cancers, in part because the symptoms are so vague. It was diagnosed in more than 21,000 woman in the United States in 2009 and killed more than 15,000. Although ovarian cancer is a relatively rare disease, it touches many lives - husbands, children, parents, brothers, sisters, friends. Unfortunately, due to its subtle symptoms and rarity, most women know little or nothing about ovarian cancer. Whether you already have ovarian cancer, know someone who does, or have been fortunate thus far to not be touched by this disease, knowledge about the disease is a powerful tool for you. We encourage all women to learn about this disease, and to tell their friends and family and co-workers. Due to the almost silent nature of its symptoms, it is said that ovarian cancer whispers. This makes it all the more important for all of us to know what to listen for and how to listen.
